• I'd buy you pink flowers.

• I would always listen closely to you and hope you always felt my silent unwavering support.

• I'd learn every possible number in Spanish so you could always ask me the answers.

• I would always keep a sweater and my arms at the ready, so you would never be cold.

• I would make you lots of promises, big and small, and keep them all.

• I'd show you every day what it really means to be adored and cherished and respected and supported and valued.

• I'd extend respect to all of your family and loved ones as if they were my own.

• I'd be so happy that you'd be happy too because it would be psychologically impossible for you to be around someone so happy without it rubbing off on you.

• I'd make such sweet love to you that you'd literally forget every stress or worry for at least a day. I would repeat this every day.

• I would tell you that you are beautiful. Even if I said it too much, I wouldn't stop because the truth is completely on my side.

• I would encourage you to dream. I would support every dream you ever had. My support would not guarantee they would all come true. But I would still try to make them so.

• I would put a force field around you to block every possible bad thing that could ever happen to you. Of course, that would fail because there is no such force field. But I would still try.

• If you ever were to have a Valentine that was not me, I'd wish that you received everything on this list and more. And I would pray that you never ever settle for someone who would dare offer you less.

 

 

 

Of course, I know that today I am not your Valentine.

 

I also know that this sad fact does not diminish my love and respect for you. I believe love and respect are a conscious choice. I choose to offer these gifts to you. I know that the impossible is possible and that miracles happen. I believe that preparation met by opportunity often leads to great results. Therefore, I will be always at the ready to live up to these promises if you were to ever let your heart be open to the possibility of us.

 

My eyes are wide open and I see clearly. I live in hope but am at peace with reality.
